Seminars

Here we would like to briefly introduce the seminars and training courses that we offer. All seminars are individually prepared and done in-house for small groups. If larger groups need to be trained, we will take care of that in cooperation with external partners, usually with colleagues of notified bodies.

What we generally offer are small, intensive workshops following a Q&A pattern - according to our experience participants will benefit best from those.

Our approach is to implement the principle of "you can buy books, but only putting it into practice will help you to become an expert". Thus we would like to support our customers in applying their knowledge practically instead of revising theory for hours. However, that requires active participation on behalf of our customers to be successful.

Seminars on firedamp and explosion protection

Basics of explosion protection

  • Divisions of groups and temperature classes
  • Minimum ignition energies, ignition temperatures, smouldering temperatures
  • Electrostatic requirements
  • Requirements of gas and dust explosion protection
  • Different types of ignition protection ranging from Flameproof Enclosure to Intrinsic Safety
  • Differences between gas and dust explosion protection
  • Equipment and systems according to the German Ordinance of Industrial Safety (BetrSichV)

Use of equipment and systems in potentially explosive atmospheres

  • Differences between the different explosion groups: I (mining), II (chemicals, refineries) and III (mills)
  • Use in explosion groups II and III (explosion protection) according to DIN VDE 0165 and EN 60079-14
  • Use in explosion group I (underground mining) according to DIN VDE 0118

Use and calculation of intrinsically safe systems

  • Intrinsically safe equipment and auxiliary equipment
  • Circuits for several auxiliary pieces of equipment
  • Calculating using the PTB program ISpark®

ATEX requirements according to Directive 2014/34/EU

  • Manufacturer directive, basics, explanation of the individual categories
  • Manufacturing control, product verification
  • Explosion protection of electrical and non-electrical equipment

ATEX requirements according to Directive 1999/92/EC

  • The directive for users and operators deals with the operation of systems in potentially explosive atmospheres and states clear obligations for the user
  • Document of explosion protection
  • Minimum requirements for existing systems
